As part of a group exhibition Creatures of Story, I brought my graphic novel pages to life by creating an atmospheric light box that people could walk around. The light inside illuminates the pages.

I drafted two different types of wooden flats before eventually deciding on the “Hollywood” style flat. I built the individual flats in SVA’s Visible Futures Lab and assembled the structure in the gallery. The next task was to print composite images taken from the comic at a large scale and on paper that could be lit from the inside. I ended up printing at the Visible Futures Lab as well as SVA’ s Wilde Lab. The images are printed on 3 by 8 newsprint sheets and attached to the wooden frame from the inside.
